Banbridge Rangers Football Club

BANBRIDGE U11 v GLENAVAN U11

On a bright spring like morning Banbridge Youth entertained Glenavon in the league. Both teams started well with good passing football being played in all areas of the pitch. The young Banbridge side opened the scoring in the fifteenth minute with a good move involving Mark Crory & Daniel Moore which resulted in an excellent right footed strike by young Alex Cochrane. Glenavon were still very much in the game and were rewarded a penalty just before half time. Dean McIlveena pulled off an excellent save, but Glenavon pushed on for a well deserved goal just before the half time whistle.

The second half started exactly the same with Ryan, Jamie and Ben all adding strength to the squad. Daniel Moore & Joel Reid worked tirelessly in mid field but just couldn’t get the final ball slotted through to Bradley Harper who’s finishing of late has been first class. Alex Cochrane was unlucky on the forty five minutes when a ball bound for the top right hand corner was saved by the Glenavon keeper. All credit to the keeper as it was an excellent save.

Banbridge had a couple of chances, but these missed opportunities would return to haunt them when Glenavon pinched the winner with 4 minutes to go. The boys continued to battle well however a special mention to this weeks man of the match Russell Hilland who again was excellent in defence. Next week is another home league match against Seagoe Youth.
